Hike, Swim & Explore in Lake Placid, NY
Join Mountain Goat Movement for an epic week of hiking and exploring the 46 High Peaks of the Adirondack Region. Days will be spent seeking summits followed by sunset swims in refreshing lakes in the largest protected land in the lower 48. This week will be challenging, rewarding, and fun. Participants need to have some level of fitness, and should be prepared to be outdoors for 8-12 hours per day.
When: Monday, July 26 - Friday, July 30. We will depart as a group via van from a convenient location in NJ on the morning of July 26 with a departure from Lake Placid during the afternoon of Friday, July 30. Participants will be back home on the evening of Friday, July 30.
Who: This trip is available to all high school boys, including graduating seniors. The maximum number of participants is 12.
About: Mr. Greg Morrissey is a certified mountain guide, seasoned high school teacher and coach, and a wilderness first responder. He is a member of the prominent Explorers Club of New York City and has guided hundreds of high school students on outdoor excursions all over the world (Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Peru, Costa Rica, and many more). In 2017, he received recognition by the American Alpine Club and North Face for his work with students in the great outdoors. Mr. Morrissey has climbed and hiked in the Lake Placid region for 15 years. He has summited Mt. Marcy, the highest peak in NY, over 7 times in addition to hiking 25 other High Peaks in the region. In 2019, Mr. Morrissey completed the Great Range Traverse in NY (13 peaks and 20,000ft of ascent and descent) in a single day.
