Surf and Serve: Costa Rica


Embark on a meaningful trip to beautiful Costa Rica, including surfing, hiking, soccer games, impact projects, and exploring the Guanacaste Region. This trip is open to 12 high school students aged 14 - 18. All surfing levels and experiences are encouraged to join!

    Welcome to Nosara, Costa Rica! This educational and adventurous trip is designed to immerse students in the stunning natural beauty of Nosara while providing daily 3-hour surf lessons with professional instructors, exploring biodiversity, hiking to waterfalls, and engaging in a meaningful impact project. Get ready for a week of fun, learning, and meaning!

    Day 1

    Fly To Liberia Aiport in Costa Rica.

    Van Transport from Liberia with local guides to our lodging: Nosara Beach Hostel. Anticipate a 3- hour drive from the airport to our accommodations.

    Evening: Welcome dinner and Introductions.

    DAILY OBJECTIVES:

    Morning: Daily team breakfast at Nosara Beach Hostel — steps from the sand.

    Spend three exhilarating hours each morning perfecting your surfing skills with professional instructors.

    Afternoon: Activities (outlined below)

    Evening: Daily team dinner at a local restaurant, or at home.

    Day 2: Impact Project

    Day 3: Local Soccer Game + Impact Project

    Day 4: Waterfall Hike + Impact Project

    Day 5: Impact Project

    Day 6: Soccer Game + Impact Project

    Day 7: Impact Project

    Day 8: Travel Day

  • Planning is underway with student leaders to produce meaningful projects.

  • A total price of $3,050 includes the following:

    This trip is open to 12 students (ages 14 - 18). This is first come, first serve.

    *RT transportation from (LIR) Liberia to Nosara and back via private shuttle taxi
    (7) Nights' accommodation at the Nosara Beach Hostel; (2) Dorm rooms + (2) Private rooms – includes all hotel taxes
    * Full time concierge to set up all activities, transportation, meals, etc.
    * Daily breakfast El Manglar Restaurant
    * Daily lunch El Manglar Restaurant - Note: water only / beverages can be purchased
    * Hosted dinners 3 nights a week (Mon., Wed., & Fri.)
    * (10) Surf lessons with all equipment provided & use of equipment in downtime (note: the group would be put into a max of 3 students to 1 instructor based on current surf level)
    * (1) Waterfall hike to the Mala Noche Waterfalls (includes transportation / guide)

    NOT Included in the price:

    1) Airfare + Travel Insurance

    2) Personal Snacks

    3) Dinner for 3 nights (to allow for flexibility in options). Plan on $30 for dinner.

  • Clothing:

    Lightweight, breathable clothing (shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, sundresses)

    2-3 pairs of bathing suits (for swimming and beach activities)

    Light, long-sleeved shirts or cover-ups (for sun protection)

    Casual evening attire (dresses, shorts, collared shirts)

    Comfortable walking shoes or sandals

    Flip-flops or beach sandals

    Hat or cap for sun protection

    Sunglasses

    Beach Essentials:

    Beach towel or beach blanket

    Beach bag or tote

    Rash guard or swim shirt (for added sun protection + surfing)

    Waterproof phone pouch or case

    Sun Protection:

    High-SPF sunscreen (at least SPF 30)

    Aftersun lotion or gel

    Lip balm with SPF

    Wide-brimmed hat or cap

    Sunglasses with UV protection

    Health and Personal Care:

    Prescription medications (if applicable)

    First-aid kit with essentials like bandages, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers

    Insect repellent (for evenings or hikes)

    Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.)

    Personal hygiene items

    Electronics:

    Travel adapter (if necessary)

    Chargers and power banks for your devices

    Waterproof phone case or pouch

    Miscellaneous:

    Reusable water bottle (stay hydrated)

    Small backpack or daypack for day trips

    Cash and credit cards (notify your bank of your travel plans)

    Travel pillow and eye mask for comfortable flights

    Snacks for the journey (granola bars, nuts, etc.)

    Optional Items:

    Camera and accessories

    Travel journal or notebook

    Books or e-reader for leisure reading
