WILD FLORIDA: This trip is only for students and staff from Dwight School. Discover the great outdoors and rich biodiversity in Florida. We will hike, kayak, camp, and embark on an unforgettable journey through the remote regions of Florida.

  • Activities include kayaking, hiking, camping, and photography lessons from famous National Geographic explorers.

    We will camp for two nights at Lake Kissimmee State Park, remaining nights will be spent at the beautiful and remote Archbold Station.

    Archbold's mission is to build and share the scientific knowledge needed to protect the life, lands, and waters of Florida, and beyond.

    Mix of Camping + Lodging

    Day 1: Travel + Arrive

    Depart from Dwight School for a flight to Orlando, Florida.

    Shuttle 1.5 hours from Orlando to Lake Kissimmee State Park.

    Evening: Welcome dinner as hosted by legendary explorers.

    Day 2: Buggy Tour + Photography Tour

    Eagel Haven Buggy Tour + Photography Lessons with National Geographic Explorers.

    Camping atLake Kissimmee State Park Camp.

    Day 3: Hiking

    Archbold Station

    Sleep in cabins.

    Day 4: Hiking

    Tiger Creek Hike

    The Path of the Panther Film Screening with Crew

    Stay at Archbold Station in cabins.

    Day 5: Hiking + Science Discovery

    Stay at Archbold Station

    Day 6: Kayaking at Shingle Creek

    Lodging near Orlando

    Day 7: Fly home from Orlando to NYC

    This trip is open to 10 students from Dwight School.

    Pricing Includes the following:

    1) Lodging

    4) Coverage for 2 teachers from Dwight.

  • Clothing:

    Lightweight, breathable clothing (shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, sundresses)

    Bathing suits for kayaking

    Light, long-sleeved shirts or cover-ups (for sun protection)

    Casual evening attire (dresses, shorts, collared shirts)

    Comfortable walking shoes or sandals

    Flip-flops or beach sandals

    Hat or cap for sun protection

    Sunglasses

    Water Resistant Shoes

    Backpacking:

    Check with Dwight for daypacks, tents, and accompanying items that are good for camping.

    Sun Protection:

    High-SPF sunscreen (at least SPF 30)

    Aftersun lotion or gel

    Lip balm with SPF

    Wide-brimmed hat or cap

    Sunglasses with UV protection

    Health and Personal Care:

    Prescription medications (if applicable)

    First-aid kit with essentials like bandages, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers

    Insect repellent (for evenings or hikes)

    Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.)

    Personal hygiene items

    Electronics:

    Travel adapter (if necessary)
